Language Scholarships
Melbourne Abroad Scholarships in Language study are available to University if Melbourne languages students. Scholarships range in value (depending on the duration of the study abroad or exchange program). Strict eligibiility criteria apply.
German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)
The German Academic Exchange Service offers scholarships, for example:
DAAD University Winter Courses (Universities of Freiburg and Essen)
Eligibility: Scholarships for undergraduates studying on a degree course of which German is a part can apply for grants to undertake summer courses at universities in Germany; 1st year students can be considered, but only in exceptional cases. Students between the ages of 19 and 32 are invited to apply. Applicants need a good knowledge of German at the time of application.
Applications due beginning of August each year.
Duration: 3 - 4 weeks during January-February of each year
Value: Stipend of €1800 plus tuition and course fees
DAAD One-semester scholarships for students of German
Eligibility: The applicant must have successfully completed 2 years of German at an Australian University.
Duration: Either 4 months (April - July) or 5 months (October - February)
Applications due in August.
Value: €615 per month plus travel expenses

Swedish Institute Scholarships
The Swedish Institute is an official Swedish government department, whose aim is to promote Sweden and Swedish culture abroad. Each year many students travel to Sweden, courtesy of a Swedish Institute grant, to take language courses in Sweden, to study at a Swedish "folkhögskola" (a small-scale institute for adult education), or to undertake other studies or research there.
